Information Sharing Documentation For Partners
As you are no doubt aware, where data is being shared the disclosure, usage and type of information is governed by various pieces of legislation such as the Data Protection Act 1998.
In order to ensure that inter agency sharing of data can take place safely and securely and to provide better services, the Information Sharing Toolkit has been adopted as a standard across a number of organisations. The Toolkit is nationally recognised and consists of a number of documents in relation to facilitating information sharing practices between parties.
Effective information sharing between partners is key to helping deliver excellent services to the communities we serve. With this in mind, and to help move forward the information sharing agenda, a number of representatives from various organisations have come together to form a 'Multi-Agency Information Sharing Review Group' (MAISRG)
The purpose of MAISRG is to offer a consistent approach to the management and administration of the Information Sharing Toolkit and to encourage others to adopt similar processes.
This also includes creating a central host repository for these documents to save unnecessary duplication of effort and to allow others to identify who are party to the agreements. Using the Internet is also a greener and more cost effective way of working as it saves paper (the ISP can be read online and only a single page, the DAP, needs to be printed.
To enable partners to work together and share data more easily Greater Merseyside Connexions Partnership has agreed to be the host and this web page contains a generic 'Information Sharing Protocol' (ISP) which belongs to no one organisation, but is an overarching document outlining the parameters in which data sharing may take place.
As one of our partners, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to consider signing up to the Toolkit. Below you will find the documents and the types of information sharing initiatives that they are used for.
All organisations that sign the accompanying Declaration of Acceptance and Participation (DAP) are listed on the "Signatories to the Protocol" page. This means that organisations already signed up need only produce an 'Information Sharing Agreement' (ISA) prior to sharing data about their clients. A basic ISA is also available for your organisation to amend and use with other partners as required.
If you have any questions or, if you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me on 0151 254 6630 or email me at data.protection@connexionslive.com
