Shorefields Celebrating the STARS
Young people from Shorefields School turned out to attend their STAR graduation ceremony at Greenbank college just before Christmas.
All of the students had participated in Liverpool University’s STAR programme, supported by the Windmills team and Greater Merseyside Connexions.
After collecting her certificate, one of the participants Kyishia explained that the STAR programme had helped her become more focused on her career aims, and allowed her to believe in herself more. She said she realised that it was OK to change her mind because there were lots of opportunities out there.
Connexions PA Helen Hawkins from Liverpool City South team supported the young people throughout the programme and was delighted to see them collect their final certificates: “It’s been a really interesting journey for the group – exploring their skills and identifying their dreams. Some of the activities have been difficult and challenging at times but the young people have shown determination and drive to succeed.”
