Sefton Youth Inclusion Project met Princess Anne

Youngsters from Merseyside met Princess Anne at a conference in London.

The teenage members of the Sefton Youth Inclusion Project  (YIP) briefed the Princess about their neighbourhood concerns and also talked to national policy makers at the event organised by Crime Concern.

They were invited to offer their views about school and education, their neighbourhood, things to do and places to go and opportunities for work.

The six 13 to 17 year olds from the Sefton, Ford, Simonscroft and Litherland areas were flown to London for the special 'speed meet' event and spoke about concerns, including the state of the local playgrounds.

Carol Greenwood of Sefton YIP said "The group met with Her Royal highness informally after the event.  After all the excitement they relaxed and had a sightseeing trip before travelling home, happy and exhausted.  We'll have further meetings with MP Joe Benton and other local partner agencies to ensure young people's views are heard and acted upon.
